It’s already a somewhat overwhelming year and I’m glad I was able to get my new headshots done prior to all of it! With teaching at @collartsfashion set to start in two weeks, followed within days by my second PhD milestone, and more teaching at @rmituniversity, AND my new position on the editorial board of the Student Journal for Vegan Sociology, it might be the most intense one yet! Whatever you do, give yourself to it with passion and dedication. Here’s to another year of growth! 🌱photo credit the insanely talented @sandraoutlaw from @romanticoutlaw
I often get asked about leather as "natural" and "biodegradable" material versus the use of Polyvinyl Chloride or Polyurethane and I always say the same thing, let alone the animals and the environmental impact of both animal agriculture and the tanning process, if leather was easy to biodegrade, it wouldn't live for years in your closet. Yes, current mainstream leather replacement come from non-renewable resources, but textile innovation, especially the new materials that are food waste (e.g. Pinatex/Vegea) or plant-based (Desserto) are where the money is at.
